Presentation of the book ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE MONASTIC ARCHITECTURE IN ASTURIAS: SAN JUAN BAUTISTA OF CORIAS by Alejandro García Álvarez-Busto

 

On Thursday, the 15th of December at 18.30 h. in the Archaeological Museum of

Alejandro García Álvarez-Busto, doctor in History and associate teacher of Archaeology of the University of Oviedo announces the results of the investigations that have been carried out in the last times there brings over of the monastery of San Juan Bautista de Corias (Cangas del Narcea, Asturias). They are analyzed almost thousand years of history that leads this Benedictine monastery, from his foundation in the year 1043 up to his recent restructuring in inn of tourism. His architectural evolution includes the three big constructive periods: the medieval Romanesque one, the Renaissance - baroque one during the XVIth and XVIIth century when the temple is constructed that pervive at present; and, finally, the monumental neoclassic reform that has come to our days.
