THE EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS 2023 IN ASTURIAS

The 2023 edition of the European Heritage Days, promoted every year by the Council of Europe and the European Commission, is coming to an end. The Cabo Blanco hillfort in El Franco has been the protagonist of the programme organised by the Regional Ministry of Culture, Language Policy and Tourism of the Principality of Asturias and the Archaeological Museum of Asturias with the collaboration of the El Franco Town Council.

To close, on Thursday 28 September here will be a conference by and a round table discussion on the research into the ceramics found at the Valdepares hillfort and their evaluation in the context of studies on Iron Age and Roman ceramics in Asturias. Speakers will be Alicia Hernández Tórtoles, Alfonso Menéndez Granda, Rubén Montes with a presentation by María Antonia Pedregal Montes, Director of the Archaeological Museum of Asturias.lecture.

On Saturday 30 September there will be a guided visit to the Monte del Castro de Mouguías/Mohías (Coaña) in the company of the director of the archaeological excavations in progress, Rubén Montes López.

Study of the ceramic material of the Cabo Blanco hillfort, Valdepares (El Franco), Alicia Hernández Tórtoles (Hired Researcher for the Training of Research Staff, Institute of History, Centre of Human and Social Sciences of the CSIC. 19.40 h. What the pottery recovered from the castros of Asturias tells us, Rubén Montes López (Archaeologist).
