Scientific Conferences on the occasion of the Exhibition "Covadonga 722-2022. Traces and stories",

Assembly Hall of the Archaeological Museum of Asturias.

The celebration of the temporary exhibition "Covadonga 722-2022. Las huellas y los relatos" is complemented by the convening of a Scientific Conference on the same subject, in which the members of the Advisory Committee of the Exhibition will participate as guest speakers. They will take place in the Auditorium of the MAA on March 29, 30 and 31, 2023.

A certificate of attendance will be issued to those who regularly attend the conferences, round tables and other programmed activities.

March 29th Wednesday:

10:00. Inauguration of the Conference

10:30-11:15. Lecture. Margarita Fernández Mier. The Hispanic Northwest around 700

11:15-11:45. Coffee break.

11:45-12:30. Lecture. Luis A. García Moreno. Latin sources on Covadonga and the origin of the Kingdom of Asturias.

12:30-13:15. Lecture. Tawfiq Ibrahim. "The seals of the Umayyad conquest and the formation of al-Andalus, 711-756".

13:15-14:00. Visit to the temporary exhibition Covadonga 722-2022 with the specialists of the Advisory Committee.

14:00-16:00. Lunch break.

16:00-18:00. Cultural visit in Oviedo

18:00-19:30. Round table and discussion with the audience of the three speakers of the day.

 

March 30 Thursday

10:00-10:45. Lecture. José Luis Solaun Bustinza. On pots, jugs and plates. Ceramic trousseau and daily life in the northern third of the peninsula during the High Middle Ages (VIII-IX centuries).

10:45-11:15. Coffee break.

11:15-12:00. Lecture. Miguel Alba Calzado. The pottery of the VIII century in Al-Andalus.

12:00-12:45. Lecture. Beatriz Campderá Gutiérrez. The first Visigoth archaeology in the north peninsular and its repercussion in the National Archaeological Museum.

12:45-14:00. Visit to the temporary exhibition Covadonga 722-2022 with the specialists of the Advisory Committee.

14:00-16:00. Lunch break.

 

16:00-17:00. Lecture. José Ángel Hierro Gárate. Late Antique weaponry in the Iberian Peninsula.

17:00-17:30. Coffee break

17:30-19:00. Round table and discussion with the audience of the four speakers of the day.

 

March 31, Friday
