DEATH IN THE VISIGOTHIC PERIOD ASTURIAS: ARGANDENES (PILOÑA) CEMETERY by Rogelio Estrada Garcia, archaeologist. Wednesday, June 5, 2014. The construction of a water tank in terms of Argandenes (Piloña) led a group of burials which, associated to a building or Pantheon, corresponding to time to late Roman and Visigoth. A unique finding that can illuminate the knowledge of social pedigrees of those dark centuries between the end of the Roman world and the birth of the Kingdom of Asturias, between the V and VII d C. Rogelio Estrada GarcÃa by the University of Oviedo, has professional archaeology since the eighties of the last century. His excavations include those made in the village of Valduno in the municipality of Las Regueras, in the enclave of Santufirme, in the medieval Oviedo and his collaborations in the war scenarios of La Carisa y La Mesa, apart from the discovery of various archaeological sites throughout the region. |
